Decisions, decsions

I didn't sign my teaching contract for next year, which makes me feel pretty lost. I've pretty much got a job at Bally Fitness as a personal trainer, which I'm SO excited about cuz it's something I've always wanted to do but I still feel really funny inside. I hate quitting things and not knowing what's going to happen next. Patience is a virtue I need to work on:). Levi and I are thinking about moving, I'm trying to fill out a million applications for teaching postions and whatever other jobs sound interesting. I've got two master's classes left and then I'm done with that degree, phew! Just feeling really anxious about everything lately. I'm sure whatever needs to happen will happen soon, I'm just not a fan of transitions. Todays Silver Lining: Levi's mom is coming to play tonight. Hooray! Hmm.. Another silver lining: My sister Lisa's dating an incredible guy, who makes her super happy. I still haven't met him, but they're getting pretty serious, so I will soon. Yipeee!

Summer

This blog is dedicated to Lindsey Wallace:) for inspiring me to blog again. There are 3 and a half days left until schools out. Wahoo! I love the blog she just did when Ashley "tagged" her, so I'm going to do one of my favorite things ever and copycat her.
1. What were you doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago I was fourteen and just finishing eighth grade. I was taking gymnastics at the YMCA as a level 6 and was ecstatic at the thought of getting my standing back tuck. My poor mom and dad were my spotters whenever I had the hankering to practice outside of gymnastics. I remember at first they said they didn't know how, but they tried anyway when I insisted. What troopers! I had just made the cheer team for my ninth grade year, and was excited to be with my old synchro partner, Sarah Tindall, my science buddies Tricia Hale and Julie LeSueur, and my ELP friend Chelise Bowden. We were really excited because there were eight of us and all but one of us was LDS. I was really goal oriented and thought I would absolutely die if I ever got a B in a class. I loved peer tutoring during my activity hour, where I never really tutored anyone, I just sat around and talked with friends and listened to my hilarious friend Crystal Solorzano, who is now my roommate. My family was about to move over to Lindsay and Brown, but I decided I was definitely NOT going to Mountain View (I ended up making the switch and went there all 3 years of high school.).

2. What were you doing five years ago?

Five years ago I was nineteen. I had just finished my first year of college and my first year away from home. It was a REALLY good thing for me to move out and be on my own. I roomed with my best friend from second grade, Cynthia Fife. We were both pretty quiet, but the rambunctious Caryn Rodgers brought some spice to our lives. She didn't seem to care what anyone else thought and had really strong opinions. She loved to pretend that people she had barely or never met were her boyfriends and she liked to play silly tricks on people. When I started my second year I met the dazzlingly handsome Levi Roberts. Every girl in Flagstaff wanted him, but somehow I convinced him to be with me! He was incredibly creative and made me feel like a million bucks. Yup, I lucked out!

3. What were you doing five months ago?
Five months ago I was getting ready to start my last semester of teaching, and beginning my three master's classes, and got the calling to make the ward program every Sunday, which is really fun actually.

Back in the Saddle Again

Okay, So I hardly ever blog and when I do I always think I'll post pictures later and then I never do. This has got to come to an end. I'm getting back on the blogging saddle and I'm not falling off the horse. I need to journal more and I love reading what's going on in other people's lives, so my new goal is to blog once a month at least. Right now I can't wait to have my master's degree. I'm really excited to look into getting my doctorate. Sometimes all the classes drive me a little crazy, but I truly love learning and can't wait to have kids and so they'll share my love.

For he's a jolly good fellow

Yesterday was my daddy's birthday. He is 52. You can see from the pictures that he is as handsome as ever. I only stopped by for a little while. They played a game of Scrabble. Then I went and watched Kirby Heyborne and Corbin Allred play their guitars while Levi was at a football game with his dad. They were quite the comedians with their intros to each song. For realsies. That was my third ever non-school/little kid concert. Inside-out was the first (I saw them in highschool, don't know if they're still around :), Rascal Flatts I just saw on Thursday with Jacqui, Tricia, Amy, Bekkah, and Jamie, and now Kirby.

Also, very important to note is that I am currently working on a short film that will be entered in the LDS short film festival. "I'll Sign for That" is the name and it's sure to be a winner. It's starring Stephanie Allen as the beautiful Tanya, Aurora as narrator, Jacqui Allen as wishful Mildred, Leslie Huber as Gabby, and The Best Part of All . . . Levi Roberts as Stephen with a "ph" Van Winkle. You'll just have to wait and see it to understand how amazing it really is. Jacqui has a professional movie editing system and acting is her passion. So I hope you're on the edge of your seat biting your nails until I post the movie.

Happy Easter!

Woohoo! It's been a while since I've written cuz I'm a little spacey and couldn't remember how to get to this blog. It's been a wonderful Easter. Although the title of my blog says I'm "Hungry for Something that I Can't Eat", I really LOVE food. Thus, I found some incredible food at both my parents and Levi's. We visited (and ate at) my parents before church today and Levi's dad after. Can I just say that my mom is adorable? On Saturday, she always plans a special Easter Egg hunt for my nieces and nephew as well as a phenomenal lunch. I took a few pictures before Levi and I headed off for Saguaro Lake that I'll post soon! Happy Easter!

Inspired by the Ashlero

I know an amazing gal named Ashley Schultz. I've only visited her blog twice, but doing that has made me excited about life and all the good things it has to offer. She is someone who is most definitely "anxiously engaged in a good cause" (one of my favorite phrases from D&C 58:27).

Today was my brother, Daniel's, LDS missionary farewell. He will be serving for two years in Guatemala. I'm so proud of him. What a great and noble act it is to completely forget about yourself for two years and place yourself in the Lord's hands. I get teary eyed just thinking about all of the good I know he's going to do. It shows such humility and such faith to be able to put your life on hold like that. I know that he will be blessed a thousand times over for what he is doing, but for now I'm sure it seems like a great sacrifice to leave his cute girlfriend, Kenzie, and travel to a foreign land and speak a foreign tongue. I'm so happy to come from a family of such admirable people like my little bro.

Speaking of humility, in April I have a week to give a thought on humility each day to an entire elementary students. I'm not much for public speaking, so I try to think of what I'm going to say way ahead of time. If anyone has any great ideas or stories, let me know :)

I'm a school teacher and part of the reason I'm still awake at this hour I rarely see nowadays, is because I'm still so nervous about what I did today. You see, yesterday I called my mom to ask her if she needed help with anything for my brother's open house, she told me everything was set except the musical number and would I be willing to do that? I have to admit I was really gullible and thought she was seriously going to have a musical number. I knew she was joking about me doing it, cuz I can't sing. However what started out as a joke, ended with me and one of my favorite roommates (I have five favorites:), Jacqui, singing and dancing to a song originally entitled "Good Morning Baltimore" but we changed the lyrics to be all about Dan's mission and renamed it "Good Bye Daniel". It was so much fun, but I still can't believe that we did it. When one of my Grandma's came later and asked for a repeat performance, my incredibe boyfriend, Levi sang it with me (Jacqui had left)!

I'm so grateful for all the excitement life has to offer!
